Dia De Los Muertos Events this Week in Queens

Día de los Muertos, or Day of the Dead, is a holiday celebrated in Mexico and by those of Mexican heritage throughout the world.

While this holiday is typically held around the same time as Halloween, it is its own separate holiday with its own traditions and intentions. Día de Los Muertos is a celebration of life.

Below are some ways you can celebrate along with our Mexican friends this week.

Nov. 2

1. Day of the Dead Celebration at the Queens Public Library 1p-5p


2. Day of the Dead Celebration at Museum of the Moving Image

Time: 4-6:30 PM


Queens Museum assembled a Dia de los Muertos altar that will be featured through Wednesday, Nov. 2.

Attendees are welcome to add any small personal offerings to be displayed along with the altar.


4. Celebrate Day of the Dead from Corona Plaza to Sunnyside by taking the 7 train to various stops along the way. Music and Dancing from 4pm to 8pm depending on the location. See site for details.


Nov. 6

5. Celebrate Día de Muertos, Day of the Dead at the Kupferberg Center for the Arts! Performed by Mexico Beyond Mariachi, this bilingual, family friendly, interactive multimedia performance interweaves traditional Mexican music and dance with stories, myths, and legends. Time: 3:30pm
