UniverSoul’s Queens Performances Help NYC Area Shelters

By UniverSoul Circus, Hosted April 21, 2017

UNIVERSOUL CIRCUS PARTNERS WITH POWER 105.1 FOR THE FIRST “FAMILY OPEN HOUSE” HOSTING 2,000 TRANSITIONAL SHELTER CHILDREN & FAMILIES TO A NIGHT AT THE CIRCUS – MONDAY, APRIL 24

UniverSoul Circus, in partnership with Power 105.1 and New York City area shelters, will be hosting a FREE night of circus for 2,000 transitional shelter children and their families on Monday, April 24 beginning at 5:30pm.  The children and their families will experience a night of unbelievable, unexpected, unforgettable fun under the big top.  Additionally, throughout the entire Queens engagement, everyone attending a UniverSoul performance will be encouraged to bring a donation of needed toiletry and other items for Samaritan Daytop Village and drop them in collection bins at the circus site.

UniverSoul Circus will be in Queens from April 19 – May 7 and a night at the “most interactive circus in the world” will create memories that they’ll never forget.  But for many homeless children and their families, this will be a night to remember, as an evening of entertainment is not within their reach.  Cedric Walker, the founder of UniverSoul Circus recently met with the Samaritan Daytop Village shelter and was overwhelmed by the sheer numbers of homeless families with children who are struggling in New York City.  It was decided that the one thing they as entertainers could do, is provide a fun escape to the circus, and help them put their struggles aside for a few hours while enjoying the show.

“We love performing for families across the country, but our Family Open House is our way of reaching out to the local community and helping those in need as best we can and we’re thrilled that Power 105.1 is as supportive of this event as we are,” said Cedric Walker, the founder of UniverSoul Circus. “There are many great organizations that thankfully are willing to help provide basic necessities to these transitional families, but we can offer them something very unique with a night out together at the circus and we hope to make this Family Open House an annual event.”

In addition to the performance itself, all audience members attending a UniverSoul Circus performance at Roy Wilkins Park in Queens this year are encouraged to bring donations of some much needed items to be donated to these homeless families through various homeless shelters in the New York City area. The following items can be dropped in one of the “giving bins” at UniverSoul Circus: toiletries (lotions, deodorants, toothpaste, etc.), laundry soap (individual packs), reusable water bottles, children’s sunglasses, baby wipes, diapers and first aid kids.

Performing in Queens from April 19 through May 7, UniverSoul Circus boasts some of the most phenomenal acts ever to grace center ring including viral internet sensations (“Juju On That Beat”) Fresh The Clownsss, from Detroit, the incredible Bone Breakers contortionists from Guinea, Xtreme Bikes from the USA and perennial favorites Caribbean Dream from Trinidad & Tobago.  The “most interactive circus in the world” is a show not to be missed!
